Practically everyone who wants to lose weight is going crazy over this low carb diet plan. This does not come as entirely surprising since low carb diets involve a fairly simple technique. Its guiding principle can be summed up in three words: eat fewer carbohydrates.
Apart from its simplicity, a low carb diet is also quite effective and this further accounts for its growing popularity. In fact, low carb diets have become so popular that they now come in various versions. Thus, there are now so-called South Beach low carb diets and Atkins low carbs.
Regardless of which version you decide to try, there is hardly any doubt about the effectiveness of low carb diets. After all, carbohydrates have always been known as a major contributor to weight gain. This is especially true when excess carbohydrates are consumed.
Thus, if you plan to lose weight, programs that focus on reducing your carbohydrate intake come highly recommended. Under these weight-loss programs, the ketosis effect plays a crucial role. This is where your body searches for alternate sources of energy once you stop your carbohydrates consumption.
With this sudden withdrawal from carbohydrate-rich food, your body will turn to excess fat for its energy needs. When this happens, there is a great possibility that you will eventually lose weight.
Of course, a typical low carb diet does not necessarily mean total and complete withdrawal from any food type that contains carbohydrates. After all, carbohydrates are essential nutrients that your body needs. They provide energy that will keep your body functioning at fairly normal levels. Thus, you still need a certain amount of carbohydrates even if you are involved in some strict diet regimen.
Still, there are versions of low carb diets that advocate complete carbohydrate withdrawal. In a way, these advocacies are also acceptable. Your body, after all, will naturally look for other energy sources when its previous supply is no longer available.
If you find carbohydrate-free diet programs an interesting method in losing weight, you are advised to get yourself ready for a few temporary discomforts. A common one involves the general feeling of weakness, especially during the early stages of engaging in this diet program. This may cause a few worries for many dieters, but this weakness is considered normal as your body is merely trying to adapt to the sudden change in dietary habits. In time, you should be able to regain your energy.
Ultimately, it does not really matter which low carb diet plan is employed. The bottom line is the effectiveness of this program which cannot be doubted.
