Competing With A Low Carb Diet Plan

February 1, 2010 by Khristine · Leave a Comment

The low carb diet plan continues to gain popularity among people conscious about their weight. Its effectiveness is set at an all-time high, however, this should not really be surprising at all.

There is another dietary regimen fast getting its fair share of notice. Its major attraction also lies in its high rate of effectiveness.

Known as the alkaline diet, this weight-loss program has been recently catching up with carbohydrate-free eating habits when it comes to public acceptance. Surprisingly, its basic philosophy happens to be one that comes in direct contrast to that held by its nearest rival.

If you look at the basic premise of this food regimen, you will find that it encourages very little consumption of meat, cheese, and all other foods that are rich in fat and protein.

Conversely, a low carb diet allows you to eat as much pork and cheese as you want. However, it limits your intake of carbohydrate-rich food, including rice, pasta, bread, sugar, beans, and others.

Given its vastly different approach to weight loss, it still comes as a great wonder that an alkaline diet should enjoy continued popularity on the same level as low carbs. Perhaps, there is a common factor that links these two weight-loss plans together, one that accounts for their public receptivity.

If you try looking at these two different dietary plans more closely, you will find that they have a few things in common. For instance, both encourage their followers to take in very little processed grains and sugar. These food products are not only rich in carbohydrates, they are also acidifying. These are the two major, but contrasting no-no’s for the two popular diet programs.

Another common denominator between a low carb diet plan and an alkaline diet is effectiveness. Both encourage limited consumption of certain food types for generally valid reasons. Alkaline dieters stick to limited intake of rice, wheat, corn, cheese, and many others because of their acidifying element. Similarly, those who settle for low carb regimens avoid these food varieties obviously because of their rich carbohydrate content. In both instances, a certain degree of fitness is achieved, although through contrasting methods.

Ultimately, it does not really matter which diet plan is more effective. The important thing is that desired results are achieved. A low carb diet is more direct in its approach. In contrast, an alkaline diet program holds a more scientific method in handling weight loss issues. Yet, these two only have one goal, and both just happen to be quite effective in reaching it.
